More awareness, more opportunities with HEAP.
Are you looking for ways to engage your 8th graders and raise awareness about college? HEAP (Higher Education Awareness Program) and the College Access Challenge Grant can be the gateway to creative activities that get students involved and focused on college early on. For the 2011-2012 school year, Incentive Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded on a competitive basis to middle schools and colleges to support college awareness programs for middle school students.
In particular, this year’s grant committee will be looking for innovative proposals in the areas of college awareness, transitioning to high school and financial access to higher education.
Give your students a head start for college by submitting a HEAP/College Access Challenge Incentive Grant proposal this year. Whether scheduling campus visits and college tours, providing financial aid counseling and information, or conducting career exploration and goal-setting exercises, these grants help support your school’s efforts to prepare students and their parents for the college process.
For more information about submitting a grant proposal for this year, contact the Commission on Higher Education at 803.737.9758.
Funding for the HEAP/College Access Challenge comes from the Federal College Access Challenge Grant Program.
